This is getting ridiculous

It seems like I only write twice a year. I get so caught up in other things, and forget that this blog even exists. Every now and then, I discover someone else's blog about books, and wish mine was like theirs. This sad little thing will never be like that if I don't actually do anything with it. So...here I am, giving it another shot. Will anything actually happen this time, who knows.

What I am reading right now:

  • Les Miserables by Victor Hugo
  • The Red Pyramid by Rick Riordian
  • The Time Machine by H.G. Wells
It never works for me to read one book at a time. I have to have something that fits the mood I am in at the moment. Les Mis has taken me a while to get to the half way point, because I am reading the non-abridged version. I figured if I was going to read it, I was going to read the whole thing. Honestly, I'm starting to see why the book was abridged in the first place. At least after I finish I will be able to say that I actually read the whole thing.

The Red Pyramid is kind of like Percy Jackson with Egyptian mythology. I've read the trilogy before, so I know how the story goes, but it's good, so I am re-reading it when I need a break from Les Mis. My only real complaint about The Kane Chronicles, which starts with The Red Pyramid, is that the characters never interact with the ones from Percy Jackson or Hero's of Olympus books. They make mention of the fact that the others exist, but that is as far as it goes. Rick Riordian mentioned on his website that it would be too complicated to have the Egyptian gods mix with the Greek ones. In a way I understand, but with the Hero's of Olympus books, he has the Greek and Roman gods together, so it seems like he has figured out a way to make them go together.
The Time Machine is my lunchtime book when I am at work. I just started it, so I don't know how I will be feeling about it by the end. I have read some of H.G. Wells books before, so I know his style, but his writing always leaves you wondering what is going to happen. The books are not predictable at all.
