Angels Twice Descending

Angels Twice Descending (Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, #10)Angels Twice Descending by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

The story itself wasn't bad, but when you combine it with the others in the collection, it was clear how this one was going to end. If you don't mind having a basic idea of how a story is going to end before you finish it, then this one is a good read.

Bitter of Tongue

Bitter of Tongue (Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, #7)Bitter of Tongue by Cassandra Clare

This short story was not memorable at all. I don't remember a single thing that happened. Other stories in this series stuck with me more.

Nothing But Shadows

Nothing but Shadows (Tales from Shadowhunter Academy, #4)Nothing but Shadows by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This story seemed really random. I'm not sure why it was even written. It was okay, but it didn't seem to serve any kind of purpose.

Born the Endless Night

Born to Endless Night (Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, #9)Born to Endless Night by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

This is the best story in the collection. There are parts of it that I could do without, and I will not be reading it again because of those parts, but there were good parts as well. Overall, I like the blueberry. He can show up more often.

The Case of the Silk King

The Case of the Silk King (Choose Your Own Adventure, #53)The Case of the Silk King by Shannon Gilligan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

I did it! For once I actually managed to do what my character set out to do. It didn't end the way I thought it would, of course it never does with these books, but I accomplished my goal.

The Fiery Trial

The Fiery Trial (Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, #8)The Fiery Trial by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This short story was really kind of weird. I didn't know where it was going until the very end when the characters actually sat down and explained it. I feel like the reader shouldn't have to have everything explained to them in order to understand what they read.

The Brilliant Dr. Wogan

The Brilliant Dr. Wogan (Choose Your Own Adventure, #72)The Brilliant Dr. Wogan by R.A. Montgomery
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This was a slow book. Even with choosing how things would go, I ended up with my character in a stalemate, which seemed pointless. I'm not sure this one is worth the read.

The Evil We Love

The Evil We Love (Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, #5)The Evil We Love by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This is an interesting short story to read if you are reading the Mortal Instruments series. It gives background to the Circle that you do not get in the series. I think it helps the reader understand the past, which gives them a better understanding of what is happening in the series.

Pale Kings and Princes

Pale Kings and Princes (Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, #6)Pale Kings and Princes by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 1 of 5 stars

This story was going every which way. It was hard to keep track of who was talking, and what the real story was. Once you figure everything out, it's easy to feel sympathy for the characters. There's just a lot going on.

The Whitechapel Fiend

The Whitechapel Fiend (Tales from the Shadowhunter Academy, #3)The Whitechapel Fiend by Cassandra Clare
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

The Whitechapel Fiend is Cassandra Clare's Shadowhunter version of the story of Jack the Ripper. It's the stuff of nightmares, and I would recommend reading it during the day, long before you go to bed.

Killers of the Dawn

Killers of the Dawn (The Saga of Darren Shan, #9)Killers of the Dawn by Darren Shan
My rating: 3 of 5 stars

If you are a fan of books where everyone gets a happy ending, no one dies, no one is evil, flowers and unicorns are everywhere, do not read a Darren Shan book. If you like things a little more realistically gory, and are okay with characters not living through a whole series, Darren Shan might be your guy.

That being said, Mr. Shan, how could you?

There is not a whole lot I can say without spoilers. Let just say there is is death, destruction, and a prison break.

Frindle

FrindleFrindle by Andrew Clements
My rating: 2 of 5 stars

Frindle is a classic Andrew Clements book. If you have read any of his other books, you will understand what I mean. It shows the power humans have to change the English language. I feel like back when this book was published, changes to the dictionary seemed like a novel idea, now it seems like a common occurrence.

This book contains memorable characters and hilarious situations. I gave it two stars because I'm an adult, and this book does not transfer into adult reading. For elementary age children, this is a recommended read.
