This is an intense retelling of Alice in Wonderland. It leans more to the side of Grimm's fairy tales than Disney.

For me, the story was a little slow in the beginning. The concept was something I was not used to, so it wasn't something I could easily relate with. As the book went on, I was pulled in, and was completely shocked by the ending and ready to start the next book. Luckily, I have the next book, so no waiting is required.

If you want a nice retelling of an old classic with sunshine and rainbows, this book is not for you. If you like the old stories you grew up and are okay with a darker retelling that pulls the reader in, this book is a great choice.
